Birthday, Christmas, and New Years…
December 10 - January 5:
The last couple of weeks I’ve taken things a bit slower and just tried to soak up all my time at home.
I had coffee dates with friends, went thrifting, helped Charlie and Jacob at the shop, dog sat, had a birthday celebration, played darts, went to Christmas parties, and had movie marathons. It was a lovely time at home with family and friends.
For New Year’s this year, a bunch of my friends and I decided to meet up with my friend Dash at his house in the Hamptons. It was such a cute town to walk around and spend a few days in. We played lots of games like Catan, Code Names, Sardines, Snake Oil, and Hide-and-go-Seek. It was so much fun! The people on the losing team of the games on New Year’s Eve had to wear a temporary face tattoo and run into the ocean. I was unfortunately on the losing team. So New Year’s Day we went to the ocean and jumped in! The water was quite cold, but really refreshing afterwards. We definitely got some strange looks. Thursday afternoon we headed back to Providence. We took the ferry across to Connecticut and then drove the rest of the way.
This weekend I’ve just been unpacking, catching up with friends about their breaks, and getting ready to start classes on Monday. Last night we had a roommate bonding night and went to see the new movie Babygirl. Afterward, we went back to our place and just chatted for a while. Right before the break started, Livia and I were placed with another roommate because we had an empty room. Her name is Kira, she’s a graphic design major, and she is from Prague. She is super sweet and I’m looking forward to getting to know her more.
Tomorrow I start my new classes for the wintersession term. I am taking Contemplative and Lives as Art: Women Artists. Contemplative is a mindfulness and writing class and the women artists class is more of an art history course. I’m really excited to be taking these classes. For wintersession, we only have 1-2 classes, 3 days a week for 5 weeks before the spring semester starts. Because we have such a strange schedule and lots of free time, it’s really easy to end up doing nothing during the next 5 weeks, but I’m really excited to work on some personal projects.
I hope you all are having a good start to the new year!
Love,
Sophia
