Rings, Necklaces, and Midterms
April 1-7
Monday morning I went in and worked on my necklace and ring in the studio before class. I worked on polishing my ring and getting that all finished for critique on Tuesday. I made some good progress on my necklace in the morning but had to take a break because my jump rings kept melting as I was trying to solder them because they were so small. I had my printmaking class where we had an in-progress critique on our print series we have been working on for the semester. I am working on a collaboration piece with Calvin on combining animals and objects and then creating the environments they would live in. I have done things such as a cat side table or a bunny bed. I am having a lot of fun with the process and learning how to do intaglio printing.
Tuesday Morning I went in and set up all the pieces I have made this semester for my midterm critique with all the faculty. I was nervous about my review because it was my first critique in the jewelry major, but it went really well. All my professors are excited about what I am making and gave me some good ideas on some new project ideas I have coming up. After class Livia and I set up the laundry room to document my necklace piece I just finished up. It was a lot of fun to get back into photoshoots for my pieces. I’m really happy with how this piece turned out.
Wednesday I had a studio class and we worked on starting our rings for the stone setting unit. Things for the next few weeks are speeding up with having a ring and stone setting due each week, but I am excited for the challenge!
Friday I went on an adventure to a little vintage pop-up sale I found. Livia and I walked to a little coffee shop and grabbed some coffee there and then I walked around some different shops for a bit and enjoyed the nice weather although, by the end of it, it was quite cold out. In the evening Millie and I grabbed dinner together and then we watched some Survivor. We fell out of our routine of watching it together so it was good to get back into that.
Yesterday was a work day in the studio just working on the projects for the week. I did stumble across an artist book sale in the library so I adventured around that a bit.
Hope you have a good week!
