First Week of School
September 3-9:
The beginning of this week I worked on getting my apartment set up so it’s easier when I’m super busy with classes. I did some meal prepping for the week so I don’t have to worry about cooking on days that I’m tired.
Wednesday was my first day of classes for the semester. I had my Junior Jewelry Studio class. This studio is going to be where I learn various techniques to then be able to translate them into the pieces that I make throughout the semester. Our first assignment is to make a set of three earrings using scoring and folding methods to create more 3D shapes using flat metal sheets. I’m excited about this upcoming assignment!
Thursday afternoon I had my 3D Modeling and Rendering studio class. I’m a bit more nervous about this class just because I’m not super into digital arts, but I’m excited to learn some new skills. We are being taught Rhino and Blender which are 3D modeling programs that are used to make pieces that will then be 3D printed into physical form. It was a long class with lots of new things. After the studio, Livia and I went for a walk around our neighborhood before eating some dinner and hanging out with Millie.
Friday I had my Election 2024 class. In this class, we are going to be closely following the election, watching debates, reading articles, and looking back on how previous election cycles compare to this current one. I was a bit hesitant to be in this class, but now I’m pretty excited to have a designated time to talk through everything that is going on in politics. In the evening, Millie, Livia, and I grabbed some dinner at the cafeteria and then hung out in Millie’s apartment. It was a hot evening, but once it cooled down we went for a walk around the neighborhood.
Saturday I worked on my homework for my studio classes. Right now, my homework is a lot of idea generation and making paper models before moving on to metal models. Millie, Livia, and I walked over to the mall after getting some work done and decided to see a movie. We saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It was a really cute movie.
