Finals, Fashion Show, and Moving Out
May 13-26
It has been a crazy past couple of weeks with the end of the school year and everything. I had my last week of classes, so it was just prep for the final review. I just worked on finishing all of my assignments. For the final review, we meet with all the faculty members in the jewelry department, as well as a guest critic and my peers.
Thursday Livia and I helped each other out on documenting our pieces. I helped her with her textile installation piece. It was so beautiful and I am so happy I was able to help her see her vision. Livia and I then documented my puppet showpiece again to try and get some better documentation. We just moved the furniture around in her room and set up a little corner with lights and fabrics hanging to make it feel warmer. I’m really happy with how the documentation turned out.
On Friday Livia, Stefan, and I decided to go to our favorite coffee shop and go for a little walk. It was so beautiful outside. I then spent the evening in the studio working on getting all of my pieces together for the review. I spent the whole weekend in the studio prepping for that.
Monday was the big critique day. I woke up early to set up my prints for my printmaking critique. Unfortunately my jewelry class and printmaking class scheduled the end of term critiques for the same day. After setting up printmaking I headed down to print some final documentation for jewelry and set up my table with all the work I made this semester. It was a long day, but I loved seeing everything that my friends made this semester. My critique went really well and I’m happy with the feedback I received. I then said goodbye to my professors and headed to the printmaking building to catch the tail end of the critiques. There were some really amazing pieces made by everyone. To celebrate, my jewelry friends and I decided to go to trivia night at the brewery. We didn’t know any of the answers, but it was a lot of fun.
Tuesday I finished my essay for my Intro to Culture Criticism class and turned in my final assignment of my sophomore year. It felt really good to turn it in.
On Wednesday I went into the studio to pack up my tools to get everything organized and turn in my keys to my bench. In the afternoon Millie, Livia, and I went for a little walk to our favorite street about 20 minutes from our house. We stopped in all of our favorite shops and did some window shopping. It was another gorgeous day outside.
Wednesday I started packing up my room. I had to take a lot of breaks because it was so so hot in my room without any AC. In the evening I helped Livia set up all of her artwork for her final review. Everything looked so amazing.
Thursday I spent the day helping Livia pack up her room and then we rented a U-Haul to move her stuff to the storage unit. I then dropped her off at the train station and said goodbye.
On Friday I finished packing up my room and went to the senior fashion show with my friend Jameson. It was so cool to see all the pieces the seniors made for their final collection. In the evening Millie and I decided to have a sleepover in Livia’s empty room for our last night at school.
Saturday was the big moving day. Millie, her dad, and I grabbed some breakfast at a cafe before I picked up the U-Haul and started loading it up. It didn’t take too long to get everything moved. I said goodbye to Millie and then went to the airport.
I’m glad to be back home with my family for the summer!
