San Diego, Documentation, and Catan
May 6-12
On Monday during my printmaking studio, I worked on finalizing my copper plates so I could start editioning the prints. In the evening I worked in the jewelry studio on my earring assignment. It took longer than I expected to get that to a reasonable spot.
Tuesday I worked in the studio for a bit in the morning before I grabbed a quick lunch with Livia and then we decided to sit out in the sun for a bit. It was such a beautiful day. It was a long studio day so I’m glad I was able to spend some time outside. In the evening I helped out my friend Amelia with documenting her jewelry piece.
Wednesday we had a demo on how to do flush stone settings. I was really excited to learn how to do that. After class, I helped out another classmate with documenting his jewelry pieces. Afterward, we had some pizza and played Catan.
Thursday morning I headed to the airport to catch my flight to San Diego. Charlie called me up on Monday and asked if I wanted to meet him out there while he was checking out a business to buy. It isn’t the best time to be traveling with finals, but it is important to him. He picked me up from the airport and we grabbed some tacos and then headed to La Jolla Shores to go for a little walk and watch the sunset. It was so beautiful. We then started driving up towards LA. We stopped in Hollywood for the night.
Friday morning we got breakfast at a little dinner off of Hollywood Blvd. We then drove around Hollywood Hills and went to an estate sale. It was so cool to see all the beautiful houses. We walked along the Venice Canal and ended up at Venice Beach. It was a bit of an overcast day so we didn’t stay at the beach long. We then explored San Onofre State Beach. It was so cool to be surrounded by such tall cliffs. We found a little cave and explored that as well. Charlie then drove us back towards San Diego and we stopped for the night.
Saturday morning we made our way towards the tide pools. I grabbed some coffee and we sat along La Jolla Beach and watched the seals and people snorkeling. It was a lovely morning. We then stopped at a suspension bridge drove around the surrounding neighborhoods and found a cute house with their entire front yard covered in animal-shaped bushes. We had tacos for lunch again and then went to Cabrillo State Park and walked around the tide pools. Before heading to the airport we grabbed some In-n-Out and went to the top of a parking garage to watch the airplanes coming overhead. I had such a lovely twin trip with Charlie and I’m so glad I was able to make it.
I arrived back in Providence early Sunday morning and headed back to my house. I grabbed a quick brunch with Millie and Livia before getting to work on my finals in the studio. Only two more weeks until I’m back home for the summer!
